Tata Motors is about to launch its next electric car with an expected range of 100km on a single charge and a top speed of 135kmph. These Electric Vehicles (EVs), namely, Tiago EV is expected to launch till August 2020 with an estimated price of 8 lakhs. The Tata Tiago EV cars would be expensive than the regular petrol or diesel because it has a lithium-ion battery, as lithium batteries are slightly expensive to obtain.

The upcoming car in hatchback segment will be characterised with humanity grille, chrome headlights, Body-colour ORVMs and body colour handles. The sedan has a boot space 310 litres, which is surely more than regular hatchbacks. The sedan can achieve an acceleration of 0-100kmph at 11secs. The car will also get fast charging facility to add to driver’s convenience. It can charge up to 40-50% in an hour’s span. It is likely to have a 85kW electric motor with a torque of 200Nm. The powertrain is taken from the Bolt EV concept car. Tiago EV gets a light weight of 1040kg and tyre size is 14 inches. There will be no noise or vibration which will add to its comfort. It will be faster, quieter, comfortable and fun to drive car.

In terms of design, it won’t be much different from its previous versions, with same grille, pulled back headlights and LED tail lamps. Same thing goes with its colour variants, most likely it would be similar to earlier Tiago, Pearlescent White, Canyon Orange and Platinum Silver. The Tata Tiago EV will get a touchscreen system for ease of use. Adding, it will have keyless entry, push start and stop, four power windows, dual airbags, rear seat child-safety locks and reverse sensors. The braking system will have disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear. The smooth operating pedals would assist to effortless driving and comfort during heavy traffic with its power steering system.

The suspension system will have the McPherson strut with coil spring suspension at the front and semi-independent twist beam suspension at the rear. It would be powered by the traction motor developing the power of 135PS. The drive would be connected to the front wheels with single speed transmission system.

The interiors will feature with dual tone interior scheme and new fabric upholstery for the seats. The comfort features of air conditioning, infotainment system with AM/FM, USB, AUX-IN, I POD connectivity, and steering mounted audio controls would be featured in this variant.
